About Me

My name is Cristian Capell, I grew up in the Cincinnati/Hamilton Ohio areas. I was raised by both my mother and father, a teacher and a veteran in the United States Marine Corp.  I grew up with two older brothers and several wonderful cousins, aunts and uncles.  As a young girl seeing some of those people in my family suffer from mental illness’ it inspired me to learn as much as a could in order to help others.  I graduated in 2002 from Hamilton High School and shortly after went to the University of Cincinnati, where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology.  In this time becoming a mother myself, stumbling through the journey of motherhood.  However, with the help of my support system, I then was able to go back to school and receive my Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati to become a licensed professional counselor in 2010.   In 2013, I lost a part of my support system, my mother, who inspired more of my passion to help others through teaching and counseling.  This propelled me to begin to create my plan and vision for Adjust Your Crown Therapy.

Over the past 13 years I have had experience with diagnosing and treating adolescents and adults, providing counseling for depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem and behavior concerns in adolescents.  I am also a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisor designation who is very interested in providing supervisory and mentoring services to those who are interested in becoming a licensed counselor in the state of Ohio.

My primary interest is in helping individuals to gain insight into their self-worth in order to better manage life and mental health barriers.  The goal is to help clients learn how to adjust negative thinking, improve self-care, adjust self-esteem and adjust your ability to believe in yourself.   I also have a passion to bring more awareness into the stigma of mental illness and the stigma of seeking help for it.  It is my belief that no matter how you choose to seek therapy, everyone sometimes struggles and deserves to seek help without judgement. Sure, therapy can be scary and even stigmatized but with the right collaboration it can be a godsend.   My philosophy as a therapist is for client’s to allow me help them on their journey, let me help you adjust your crown.

Counseling With Me

Counseling can be a difficult process and finding the right counselor can be tough too, that’s why having a good therapeutic relationship is important.  Counseling with me will not only will it be a partnership where concerns are addressed.  It will also be a safe space where maybe also silence will allow for  introspection.  Throughout my life and from personal experience I have learned that in order to  live a happy fulfilled life, your own self care has to be a priority.  That’s why helping others take time to improve upon their own self care has been a passion of mine.  Giving individuals, women, men and adolescents the space to work on sorting through trauma, negative thoughts, depression, anxiety, and issues with self esteem and confidence, allows for greater ability to accomplish goals and greater ability to live a happier self fullfiled life.

My mother, the late Sandra Searcy, always taught me that “you can be whatever you believe you can be, just keep your head up and walk as if there is a crown on your head”.  I believe that in her words she identified that your ability to live a self fulfilled life, to accomplish dreams resides in your ability to believe in yourself, have confidence and carry yourself as if you are royalty.  At Adjust Your Crown, my passion is to help you find your inner royalty.  The confidence inside that will manage those depressive symptoms and lack of motivation to accomplish goals.  Helping might mean challenging negative mindsets and collaborating with clients to help identify needs, barriers and goals, whatever that might mean, it is my goal to help individualize that process for each client.
